100 Years of SICCI: Focus on Internationalisation, Digitalisation, and Sustainability

Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry marks its centenary, setting sights on global expansion, technology, and sustainable practices.

The Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) celebrated its 100th anniversary on May 4, 2024, highlighting plans to focus on internationalisation, digitalisation, and sustainability. SICCI chairman Neil Parekh expressed enthusiasm for the future, emphasizing the chamber’s dedication to expanding global outreach and promoting sustainable business practices.

Over the past two years, SICCI organized five trade missions with nearly 125 businesses participating. Future missions will target India, Europe, and the Russian Federation, fostering cross-border business collaborations.

President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, in his speech during the centennial gala dinner, urged Singapore companies to explore opportunities in India, citing India’s growth potential in sectors like sustainability and semiconductors.

Additionally, SICCI aims to equip members with tools for the digital economy, including cybersecurity and AI solutions.

President Tharman encouraged Singaporeans to explore India’s diverse regions, praising companies like LionsBot, which expanded its presence in Chennai. He emphasized building a spirit of adventure to deepen economic ties with India.
