Lim Boon Huat Collapses in First Kilometer; Medics and Paramedics Respond Immediately
A 50-year-old participant, Lim Boon Huat, tragically passed away after collapsing during a 5,000m walk at Singapore Athletics’ All Comers Meet 2 on Saturday morning, March 19. The incident occurred within the first kilometer of the race, which began at 8 am. Medics on site at the Kallang venue quickly attended to him before paramedics arrived and transported him to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Lim was one of four participants in the race, alongside three 18-year-olds. Eyewitnesses reported seeing medics rush to the scene but remained focused on their own events. The athletics community has expressed deep sorrow over the loss, with Singapore Athletics extending condolences and support to Lim’s family during this difficult time. The organization assured that the safety of athletes remains a top priority and will continue reviewing procedures to ensure their well-being.
