WP Leaders Knew of Raeesah Khan’s Parliamentary Lie for Months, Testifies Faisal Manap

Faisal Manap reveals that top Workers’ Party leaders withheld the truth about Raeesah Khan’s falsehood from the rest of the party

The Committee of Privileges, which is investigating former Workers’ Party (WP) MP Raeesah Khan’s admission of lying in Parliament, has released its second report summarizing the testimony of WP vice-chairman Faisal Manap. According to the report, Mr. Faisal testified that WP’s top three leaders—Pritam Singh, Sylvia Lim, and himself—had known for months about Raeesah Khan’s untruth but did not inform other party leaders or members.

The committee’s report also revealed that Mr. Faisal had two meetings with Mr. Singh and Ms. Lim prior to giving his testimony. However, he refused to disclose the details of these discussions. The inquiry follows Ms. Khan’s confession on Nov. 1 that she had lied in Parliament about accompanying a sexual assault victim to a police station, where the victim was treated insensitively.

The committee continues its investigation, with further testimonies expected from WP leaders Pritam Singh, Sylvia Lim, and Sengkang GRC MP Jamus Lim. Mr. Faisal acknowledged the seriousness of lying in Parliament and agreed that staying silent when aware of a falsehood is also problematic.
