Singapore’s port authorities are currently addressing an oil spill that resulted from a collision between two vessels at Pasir Panjang Terminal on June 14. The incident involved the Netherlands-flagged dredger Vox Maxima and the Singapore-flagged bunker vessel Marine Honour, which was docked at the terminal during the collision that occurred around 2:20 PM.

According to a statement from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the collision led to oil leaking from a cargo tank of the Marine Honour into the surrounding waters. By 6 PM on the same day, oil spill response teams were actively engaged in cleanup efforts.

While MPA confirmed that the affected cargo tank has been isolated and containment measures have been implemented, social media footage purportedly showed black oil washing up on the shore of a Singapore beach. Bloomberg News has yet to verify the authenticity of these videos.

Despite the spill, MPA assured that there has been no adverse effect on navigational safety or berthing operations in the port area. Cleanup operations are ongoing as authorities work to mitigate the impact of the spill.
