Ng Jun De, a 22-year-old motorcyclist, tragically lost his life in an accident along Clementi Avenue 6 on April 18, just months before he was set to begin his polytechnic studies. The young man, who had been riding home that evening, lost control of his bike, causing it to skid. Ng was flung from the motorcycle and suffered severe chest injuries, prompting emergency transport to the hospital. Tragically, despite efforts to save him, Ng passed away later that night.
His eldest brother, Jonathan Ng, described Jun De as “a little angel” who brought joy and laughter to those around him. Jonathan expressed his grief, saying that his brother’s death left a void that was felt by many. At his wake, nearly 400 friends and family members came to pay their respects, a testament to how loved Ng was by all who knew him.
Ng’s grandmother, who was 81, shared with Shin Min Daily News that Jun De was always eager to help others. She recalled that she had seen him that very morning before the accident. Jonathan, in his tribute on Facebook, remembered his brother as someone who was never loud, always humble, and whose quiet acts of kindness had touched the hearts of many.
“Being your eldest brother for a short 22 years is simply way too short,” Jonathan wrote. “Over the past years, I am really blessed to be your KorKor (big brother).” In a heartfelt message, he added, “Have a good rest now, spread your wings and soar up high, and join our beloved mummy in heaven.”
The Ng family’s deep commitment to community service was a legacy passed down from their late mother. Jonathan shared that his brother, Jun De, had also worked as a paramedic to help ease the financial burden on the family, showing his caring nature until the very end.
The news of Jun De’s passing is all the more poignant as it occurred just days before the birthday of their father, who turned 65. The community and family have rallied around the Ng family, offering condolences and honoring the life of a young man who gave so much to others.
The police are continuing their investigation into the cause of the accident.
