Clinical Psychologist Testifies About Heard’s Mental Health During Defamation Case
Amber Heard has been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD) by clinical psychologist Dr. Shannon Curry. Dr. Curry testified in the Fairfax, Virginia courtroom, where Heard is facing a defamation case brought by her ex-husband, Johnny Depp. The psychologist, initially hired to review case files, later conducted a psychological evaluation of the actress.
Dr. Curry explained that Heard’s BPD is marked by a deep fear of abandonment, leading to intense relationships that can swing from idealization to devaluation. She also noted that Heard had exaggerated her post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after her breakup with Depp.
Describing Heard as a “sophisticated” case of BPD, Dr. Curry noted that individuals with the disorder often adopt the behaviors, interests, and personalities of those around them. Depp has not undergone a similar psychological evaluation. The trial is expected to continue for another five to six weeks.
