Newchic Launches 2022 #ArtYourPossibility Contest to Celebrate Creativity and Social Advocacy

This year’s fashion contest invites designers to express their unique perspectives through sustainable and socially conscious designs.

On July 11, 2022, Newchic, an online fashion platform that champions diversity, inclusion, and creativity, announced the launch of its 2022 #ArtYourPossibility Contest. This event will run from July 11 to August 21, 2022, culminating in the announcement of the top eight designers on the weekend of August 13 and the final four winners on August 20.

The 2022 contest was initiated following discussions with fashion creatives about the interplay between art and social advocacy. Emphasizing Newchic’s mission to “make every uniqueness visible,” the contest invites designers of all experience levels to participate. This year, Newchic is collaborating with four purpose-driven fashion brands—Selfsow, Koyye, Mensclo, and Charmkpr—to co-host the competition.

These companies share our mission to provide unique, creative, comfortable, and casual clothing, empowering our customers to express their personal uniqueness.”

Each collaborating brand has its own social mission aligned with Newchic’s broader goal of promoting uniqueness and creativity drawn from diverse cultural experiences. Selfsow focuses on promoting women’s autonomy, Koyye emphasizes community equality, Mensclo advocates for minimalist fashion, and Charmkpr celebrates cultural diversity in men’s fashion.

Newchic welcomes creatives worldwide to submit their designs, regardless of their fashion experience. The only requirement is a genuine passion for sustainability and social justice. Participants can register for the contest and select up to two themes inspired by the missions of the four brands.

Designers will have four weeks to submit their portfolios, which should include six illustrations per theme and a narrative behind each design. Following the submission period, the public will vote for their favorite entries. The top eight finalists will be determined based on this vote and will participate in one-on-one interviews with the judges. In the final week of the contest, Newchic will host an Instagram Live session where judges will evaluate the finalists’ designs in real-time, ultimately announcing the top four winners. Each of these winners will receive a cash prize of $1,500.

We encourage fashion students, practicing designers, and enthusiastic amateurs alike to share their stories and designs with us.”
