New Addition to Fleet Enhances Logistics Network and Supports Growing E-Commerce Demand
SINGAPORE/BONN, August 16, 2022 (Media OutReach) — DHL Express, the world’s premier international express service provider, has proudly announced the arrival of its latest Boeing 777 freighter at Singapore Changi Airport. This aircraft, which features a dual DHL-Singapore Airlines (SIA) livery, boasts a maximum capacity of 102 tons and will operate on a thrice-weekly route connecting Singapore to the United States via South Korea starting in August 2022.
In a joint statement, DHL Express highlighted the strategic importance of this new addition to their global aviation network, which comprises both owned and partner airlines. Robert Hyslop, Executive Vice President for Aviation at DHL Express, emphasized that the Boeing 777 freighter represents the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance its logistics capabilities while minimizing carbon emissions. “SIA’s expertise in flight operations will significantly enhance our service as we capitalize on Singapore’s strategic location as our South Asia Hub,” he stated.
Lee Lik Hsin, Executive Vice President Commercial at SIA, reiterated the significance of the partnership between DHL and SIA in bolstering Singapore’s status as a leading air cargo and e-commerce logistics hub. He noted, “Air cargo plays a vital role in maintaining global supply chains, and this new freighter operation provides a solid foundation for future collaboration between SIA and DHL.”
Christy Reese, Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing, Asia Pacific at Boeing, highlighted the capabilities of the Boeing 777 freighter. “As the world’s largest and most capable twin-engine freighter, it can perform long-range missions exceeding 6,000 nautical miles while offering a 20% greater payload than competitors like the 747-400F,” Reese remarked.
In March 2022, DHL Express and SIA signed a Crew and Maintenance agreement for the deployment of five Boeing 777 freighters. The second freighter is scheduled to enter service in November 2022, with all five expected to service routes between the United States and Singapore via North Asia and Australia throughout 2023.
