Thomson-East Coast Line Phase Three Stations Handed Over to SMRT for Testing

New MRT Line Set to Enhance Commuter Connectivity in Singapore

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced on its Facebook page that it has successfully completed the handover of the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) Phase Three stations. This milestone follows the completion of all civil and structural works, along with systems integration and testing activities.

In a Facebook update dated August 17, 2022, the LTA stated that SMRT is now responsible for conducting operational testing over the coming months. This process will prepare 11 of the 13 stations in this section to begin passenger services by the end of the year.

The introduction of Phase Three is set to significantly enhance connectivity for commuters traveling from Woodlands and Upper Thomson, providing direct access to key destinations such as Great World and Marina Bay Sands.

According to LTA, once fully operational, more than 180,000 households will be located within a 10-minute walk from a TEL MRT station.

It is important to note that the two remaining stations, Mount Pleasant and Marina South, will open at a later date, contingent upon the completion of surrounding developments.
