A Heartfelt Mid-Autumn Festival Gift from Hong Kong to Paris
PARIS – Singaporean actress and host Sharon Au received a special Mid-Autumn Festival delivery from director Anthony Chen, who is based in Hong Kong. Despite a luggage mishap, Chen, 38, ensured that the precious mooncakes and Lao Po Bing (Wife Cake) he brought from Singapore arrived safely in his hand-carry when he visited Paris.
In a heartfelt social media post on Sept. 11, Au, 47, shared photos of the thoughtful gift and her reunion with Chen near the iconic Eiffel Tower. The Mid-Autumn Festival was celebrated on Sept. 10 this year, and Au expressed gratitude for the traditional treats.
Chen, known for his award-winning films Ilo Ilo (2013) and Wet Season (2019), revealed in a prior interview that he and Au became friends after connecting on Instagram. This is not the first time he has shown his generosity; he also gifted her glutinous rice dumplings during the Dragon Boat Festival when his family visited her in June.
Currently, Chen is in France for post-production work on a film and plans to head to Britain to continue working on it after his month-long stay in Paris.
