Iconic Hawker Centre Reopens to Offer Over 80 Food Stalls and 2,000 Local Products
On September 15, 2022, Lau Pa Sat, a historic Victorian landmark managed by Kopitiam Investment Pte Ltd, announced its reopening to the public, featuring an exciting array of new food stalls and an enhanced selection of local retail brands. This iconic venue, known for its striking clock tower and unique heritage, now hosts Food Folks, an award-winning space designed to promote local food products and brands.
Emerging from the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lau Pa Sat revitalizes Singapore’s culinary landscape by offering a vibrant dining experience, complemented by live music and a lively atmosphere. With a legacy spanning 128 years, the food hall presents a diverse selection of authentic local dishes alongside modern and international cuisine, now showcasing 84 stalls, including 24 newly added options.
Food enthusiasts can savor beloved local dishes like beef hor fun from Wok of Wonders and prawn noodles from Golden Shoe Hokkien Mee, as well as international favorites such as Tom Yum Soup from Mr Tom Yum Thai Kitchen and Scrambled Egg Fried Rice from Sing HK Kitchen. Known as Singapore’s largest open-air satay street, Lau Pa Sat features nine satay stalls for alfresco dining. Additionally, the venue boasts the largest selection of craft beers, including unique local brews available at Food Folks, catering to a wide range of tastes.
Food Folks serves as a hub for both locals and tourists, offering over 2,000 quality products from more than 100 local and international brands, with a strong focus on homegrown items. Shoppers can find exclusive offerings inspired by local flavors, such as Lychee Dragon Fruit Dark Chocolate from Fossa Chocolate and Lemongrass Pale Lager from 1925. This dynamic space allows visitors to enjoy Singapore’s famed hawker food while exploring unique local merchandise.
