A New Landmark for Agricultural Innovation in China
HARBIN, China, Oct. 5, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The World Agricultural Center (WAC), a groundbreaking global hub for agricultural research, has officially opened in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang province. The opening ceremony featured key industry figures delivering speeches that highlighted the WAC’s critical role in advancing the agricultural sector both in China and globally.
The WAC is a continuation of the legacy established by the International Agricultural Technology Innovation Center (IATIC), aimed at transforming Heilongjiang into an international agricultural innovation hub. As the world’s tallest building dedicated to agricultural research, the WAC boasts cutting-edge facilities designed for a variety of pioneering agricultural research projects.
Notably, the global headquarters of DBN has been established at the WAC, alongside several international institutions, including the International Black Soil Research Institute under the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the International Agricultural Economic Research Center, and the International Agricultural Think Tank. This center will also serve as the permanent venue for the annual World Agricultural Economic Forum, facilitating collaboration to elevate global agricultural science and technology.
In tandem with the WAC’s inauguration, the Heilongjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences and DBN hosted a global introduction conference aimed at attracting high-end agricultural talent. Liu Di, Dean of the Heilongjiang Academy, and Zhang Lizhong, Vice Chairman of DBN Group, signed an agreement to enhance the recruitment of top-tier agricultural specialists focused on crops like corn, rice, and soybeans, as well as other economic plants and fungi.
The Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences will outline job requirements, while DBN Group will provide funding for talent acquisition. The initiative aims to attract approximately 80 international, highly skilled agricultural researchers across five levels, matching talent introductions with suitable support and qualifications as part of the “60 Items of Longjiang Talent Revitalization in the New Era.”
