Luxury Eco-Resort by Banyan Tree to Offer Unique Wildlife Experiences and Sustainable Living
The highly anticipated Mandai Rainforest Resort is scheduled to open its doors in April 2025, offering a luxury eco-friendly retreat within the Mandai Wildlife Reserve. Nestled near five iconic wildlife attractions—Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, River Wonders, Bird Paradise, and the upcoming Rainforest Wild—the resort promises an immersive nature-inspired experience.
Managed by the Banyan Tree luxury hotel group, the 338-room property spans 4.6 hectares and is designed to seamlessly integrate architecture with its natural surroundings. Mature trees, such as a rain tree and an Indian beech tree, have been preserved and incorporated into the resort’s design. Each room will feature floor-to-ceiling windows that fully open to promote natural ventilation, while ambient temperatures will mirror the cool conditions of tropical rainforests.
Sustainability is central to the resort’s design and operations. Every room will include an interactive energy consumption display to educate guests on their power usage, with reminders if limits are exceeded. Furthermore, rainwater is collected and reused to support the flushing system in each room.
Mr Teo Joo Leng, chief product officer for Mandai Wildlife Group, explained: “We invite everyone who stays here to embrace being nature’s guest… for urban dwellers, this means adapting to a new rhythm and understanding that wildlife and nature follow their own paths.”
The Mandai Rainforest Resort has earned Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority’s Green Mark Platinum Super Low Energy status—a certification reserved for buildings demonstrating energy savings of at least 60 per cent compared to a 2005 baseline.
Additional facilities will include a 300-seater ballroom, a Banyan Tree Spa, meeting spaces, a gym, and a rooftop swimming pool. Guests can also access exclusive wildlife activities such as early morning visits to Bird Paradise or special guided tours of Singapore Zoo, as well as enjoy discounted rates on entry to nearby attractions and experiences.
Glen Cook, the resort’s general manager, shared his vision for the property: “This will be the perfect base for both tourists and Singaporeans to explore the wonders of wildlife and nature. We hope guests see it as a retreat—a place for mindfulness, discovery, and reconnection with the natural environment.”
With its combination of sustainability, wildlife experiences, and luxury living, the Mandai Rainforest Resort promises to redefine eco-tourism in Singapore and offer guests a transformative nature retreat.
