SINGAPORE – Passengers booking flights with Scoot departing from Singapore will now incur card processing fees.

The airline implemented the fees on 10 February to offset costs imposed by financial institutions for processing credit and debit card payments, according to a statement released on 18 February in response to enquiries from The Straits Times.

This change reverses Scoot’s 2019 policy of waiving such fees and follows the reintroduction of similar charges in 2024 for flights departing from other regions, including Australia, Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand.

The fees range from 1.4% to 2.26%, depending on the card used. However, no additional costs apply when paying with PayNow, Scoot vouchers, or KrisFlyer miles.

“Scoot customers can select the payment method that best meets their needs,” the airline stated, noting that it will continue to assess its fee structure periodically and make adjustments as necessary.
