For 74-year-old actor Lee Lung Kei, age and adversity are no obstacles to love. He recently shared that he plans to wed his 37-year-old fiancée, Chris Wong, once she is released from prison.

During a 1 April episode of TVB’s Mystery Files, the actor revealed that he had proposed to Wong again during a visit to the correctional facility where she is serving a 25-month sentence. She had been convicted last June for overstaying and possessing forged documents. According to local media, her release is expected this July.

Lee spoke about the significance of their continued connection despite the separation. Since her incarceration, Wong has written him over 400 letters, and he shares his weekly schedule with her to maintain emotional closeness. Although prison visits are allowed twice a month for only 30 minutes each, he said many feelings remain unspoken during those brief meetings.

Their relationship first came to public attention in 2020 when Lee disclosed that Wong suffered a miscarriage in her third trimester. In 2023, he confirmed they had been together for four years and were planning to marry. However, pandemic-related travel restrictions delayed his ability to visit her parents in China for formal blessings.

Demonstrating his long-term commitment, Lee also revealed he had transferred ownership of seven properties to Wong, stating his intention to provide her with financial security.

During the interview, Lee recounted that he brought up the idea of marriage again during a recent prison visit, and Wong agreed. He expressed his belief that she is “the right woman,” and said he would formally register their marriage as soon as she is released.

As for the wedding itself, the couple plans to keep it simple—perhaps just a meal shared with a few close friends. While Wong’s family initially opposed the relationship due to the significant age difference, they eventually gave their approval when it became clear the couple’s bond was serious.

When asked what drew Wong to him, Lee responded with simplicity: “When two people are meant to be, they just connect.”
