Three-year partnership aims to revolutionize clinical care in Singapore through AI-powered innovations.
ASUS and Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) have formalized a three-year partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to drive innovation in healthcare by incorporating AI-powered solutions. This collaboration, which began in 2021, focuses on improving clinical care and addressing the evolving healthcare needs of patients in Singapore.
One of the standout achievements from this partnership is Blade, an AI-powered software co-developed by ASUS Intelligent Cloud Services (AICS) and TTSH medical experts. Blade automates the identification and classification of peripheral blood cells, significantly improving accuracy and efficiency in laboratory diagnostics. With an ability to reduce review times by 50%, Blade can assist technologists and haematologists in providing quicker and more accurate diagnoses.
The software uses over 337,700 digital images to classify white blood cells with an accuracy of 91.4%. Blade is currently undergoing clinical trials, with plans to roll it out at Hougang Polyclinic for telemedicine use by late 2022. ASUS and TTSH are also exploring AI solutions for breast and colon cancer detection, aiming to expand into pathology and microbiology applications.
This partnership reflects Singapore’s growing emphasis on healthcare innovation to meet the challenges posed by an aging population and rising chronic disease cases. Both organizations see AI as a key tool in transforming clinical practices to improve patient outcomes.
ASUS’ commitment to healthcare innovation, combined with TTSH’s vision for advancing care through AI, sets the stage for developing impactful medical solutions that can address real-world challenges in clinical settings.
