NParks Urges Public to Stay Clear as Search Efforts Continue

The National Parks Board (NParks) has launched a search operation after a crocodile was sighted on Lim Chu Kang Road on 18 March. Officials were alerted to the reptile’s presence near Neo Tiew Crescent on Tuesday evening, prompting an immediate response team to investigate.

Images of the crocodile resting on the road were shared on Facebook by user Koo Guan Heng, who jokingly referred to it as a “pet lizard sunbathing.” The location of the sighting is close to Long Kuan Hung crocodile farm, though the facility declined to comment when contacted.

NParks Wildlife Management and Outreach Director Cyrena Lin advised the public to remain calm and move away if they encounter a crocodile. Officials emphasised the importance of not provoking, feeding, or approaching the animal. Sightings should be reported to NParks via the hotline 1800-476-1600.

This is not the first such incident in Singapore. Earlier this year, on 7 January, a crocodile was seen swimming near Yishun Dam, with a video of the reptile circulating on social media. A similar sighting occurred in July last year, with NParks confirming that the crocodile was likely an estuarine species that thrives in both brackish and freshwater environments.

In response to these encounters, NParks continues to issue public advisories, warning people to keep a safe distance from bodies of water where crocodiles have been spotted.
