Tan to spearhead coverage of major local corporates and multinational clients
Citi has appointed Damien Tan as the new head of corporate banking for Singapore, effective May 1. In this role, Tan will drive the business performance of Citi’s corporate banking division in the country, focusing on top-tier local corporates, public sector entities, financial institutions, and multinational clients. He will also be a member of Citi’s Singapore management committee.
Reporting to K Balasubramanian, head of corporate banking for Asia South, and Tibor Pandi, Citi country officer and head of banking for Singapore, Tan brings over two decades of experience in the banking sector. He was previously the head of local corporates for Singapore, managing relationships across various industries such as real estate, healthcare, and agribusiness.
In his former role, Tan handled strategic aspects of corporate banking, including client acquisition, product partnerships, and deal origination. His career at Citi began in 2003 as a management associate in the corporate and investment banking division. He has also served as an investment product manager for Citi Singapore’s offshore banking business and worked in the Asia fixed income syndicate team in Hong Kong.
Pandi praised Tan’s extensive industry knowledge, stating, “I am proud that Damien has grown with us, starting his career at Citi with the management associate programme, and has risen to the opportunity to head up our corporate banking business in Singapore to drive its strategy and growth.”
Tan holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
