Alvin Koh to take over leadership of CCCS effective April 1, succeeding Sia Aik Kor.
The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) has appointed Alvin Koh, a former director, as its new chief executive officer (CEO), effective April 1, 2024. Koh succeeds Sia Aik Kor, who has led the commission since 2019 and will transition to a new role in the State Courts.
Background of Alvin Koh
Previous Roles: Koh has a history with CCCS, having served as the director of legal and enforcement from 2008 to 2012 when it was known as the Competition Commission of Singapore. He has also held positions in various public sector agencies, including the Ministry of Finance and the Supreme Court of Singapore.
Most Recent Position: Prior to his new appointment, he was the chief legal officer and divisional director at the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), where he managed several key areas, including the prosecution of manpower offences and work-injury compensation adjudication.
Focus Areas as CEO
In his new role, Koh will oversee the enforcement of the Competition Act and the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act, advising the government and public agencies on competition and consumer protection policies. He emphasized that combating anti-competitive practices and unfair conduct will be a priority for CCCS.
