Covid-19 Clusters Expand: NTUC Foodfare Now at Nine, Hong Ye Group Reaches 21

Singapore continues to track rising Covid-19 cases as clusters grow.

As of May 31, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has reported an increase in Covid-19 cases linked to two significant clusters in Singapore. The NTUC Foodfare cluster has grown to nine cases, while the Hong Ye Group cluster has expanded to 21.

The new additions to the NTUC Foodfare cluster include a 33-year-old supervisor at Hua Zai HK Style Roasted Delight Rice Noodle, who is a household contact of five previously reported patients, and another 33-year-old kitchen assistant at the same establishment.

The Hong Ye Group cluster saw four new cases, comprising an 18-year-old cleaner at Changi Business Park, an 18-year-old full-time National Serviceman, an unemployed 16-year-old, and an 11-year-old student from New Town Primary School.

In addition to these clusters, an administrative worker at White Sands Primary School and a student from Chua Chu Kang Primary School also tested positive. The administrative worker was one of three unlinked cases reported on the same day. Overall, 16 community cases were confirmed, along with seven imported cases who were under stay-home notices upon arrival in Singapore.

This brings the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Singapore to 62,051 as of Monday, May 31. The authorities continue to monitor and manage the situation, emphasizing the importance of adherence to safety protocols to curb the spread of the virus.
