A couple is attacked after a cyclist becomes frustrated with a woman’s hearing impairment during their walk.
“A morning walk in Sengkang turned unsettling for a couple when a cyclist allegedly slapped a woman after becoming upset over her not moving aside during his constant bell ringing. The incident occurred on March 26, when the woman, who is hearing impaired, failed to notice the cyclist approaching from behind. Her husband eventually gestured for her to step aside, but the cyclist was reportedly angry.
Two days later, the woman, under the Facebook name Honey Soo, appealed for help to identify the cyclist. She explained that she hadn’t heard the ringing bell and had only moved when her husband indicated to her. After passing the couple, the cyclist encountered them again at a traffic junction and verbally abused them, shouting, “”Don’t know how to give way, is it?””
The woman attempted to explain her hearing impairment, but the cyclist continued to insult her. When she tried to record the encounter on her phone, the cyclist allegedly slapped her across the cheek. As she confronted him, demanding he stay so she could call the police, the cyclist attempted to flee but collided with her husband on his way out.
Despite the couple’s efforts to chase him, they lost sight of the cyclist near Block 261 Punggol Way. They then proceeded to the Sengkang Neighbourhood Police Centre to file a report.”
