SINGAPORE — A woman walking her two dogs was involved in a hit-and-run accident on Wednesday (Jan 11) at New Loyang Link when a BMW reportedly struck her and one of her dogs, dragging them under the vehicle. The woman’s family is now appealing for witnesses who may have dashcam footage to help in the investigation.
According to a post shared on SG Road Vigilante’s Facebook page, the woman’s sister recounted that the driver of a black BMW made a right turn at the junction and hit both the woman and her Chow Chow. The accident occurred at approximately 11:30 pm as the woman and her two dogs, a Chow Chow and a Labrador, were crossing the road.
The Chow Chow sustained serious injuries, including a fractured arm and a dislocated hip, both requiring major surgery. The Labrador was unharmed, while the woman suffered cuts, bruises, and significant pain in her head and neck.
The woman’s sister noted that the area was busy at the time and urged anyone with dashcam footage to come forward. “We hope someone captured footage of the black, 4-door BMW,” she wrote, adding that there may also be camera footage from the junction, pending confirmation from the police.
She expressed frustration over the driver’s actions, stating, “It’s shocking that the driver could continue driving despite the screams of my sister, which were heard by my mother and neighbours from a distance, and the fact that our dog was dragged under the car.”
The family is determined to find the driver and bring charges, describing the incident as deeply traumatic for them.
Several netizens encouraged the family to file a police report, with one commenter, Daniel Xu, expressing confidence that the Singapore Police Force would be able to track down the driver.
