Over 1,200 Volunteers Join Forces in Hong Kong and Mainland China to Support 5,500 Senior Citizens
Hong Kong SAR, September 18, 2022 — Hang Lung Properties marked the 10th anniversary of its Hang Lung As One Volunteer Team by organizing a large-scale volunteer campaign across Hong Kong and nine Mainland Chinese cities. The event, themed “Diversity and Inclusion – Caring for the Elderly,” mobilized over 1,200 corporate volunteers to engage nearly 5,500 elderly citizens through activities designed to foster community support and compassion.
The initiative, led by Hang Lung CEO Weber Lo, included diverse activities such as visiting elderly centers, providing haircuts, distributing gift packs, and organizing sensory-stimulating experiences for dementia patients. In Hong Kong, volunteers collaborated with the Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association (HKYWCA) to host a day of relaxation and creativity for dementia patients, while similar programs were held across Mainland cities.
This volunteer day underscores Hang Lung’s commitment to promoting social inclusion and addressing the challenges of aging populations, particularly in caring for elderly individuals with dementia. The event also aligns with the company’s broader community investment efforts, which include a newly launched mentorship program aimed at empowering young female leaders.
Founded in 2012, the Hang Lung As One Volunteer Team has grown to over 9,500 volunteers and logged over 112,000 service hours across a range of community-focused initiatives.
