Police Raid Training Venue, Seize Posters and Devices Suspected of Inciting Hatred
A mixed martial arts trainer, aged 59, and his 62-year-old assistant were arrested by Hong Kong’s National Security Department for alleged seditious acts. The raid took place at a training venue in Tsim Sha Tsui on March 20, where officers confiscated posters and electronic devices suspected of promoting messages inciting hatred. Among the seized materials were images promoting self-defense with slogans that referenced the anti-government protests in Hong Kong.
In addition, participants in the training class were fined for violating Covid-19 social distancing rules. The incident adds to a broader crackdown on symbols and messages linked to the 2019 protests.
