Su Haijin is among ten suspects involved in a significant money laundering case.
Su Haijin, a 41-year-old Cypriot national, is scheduled to plead guilty on April 4, 2024, as part of a high-profile billion-dollar money laundering investigation. He is the second suspect to indicate an intention to plead guilty, following Cambodian national Su Wenqiang, who plans to enter a guilty plea on April 2.
Su Haijin faces two charges: one for unlawfully evading arrest and another for money laundering. The evasion charge stems from an incident on August 15, 2023, when he allegedly refused to open his room door during a police raid at a Good Class Bungalow in Ewart Park, opting instead to escape via the balcony.
The money laundering charge involves approximately S$4.06 million found in his UOB bank account, which authorities believe is linked to illegal remote gambling activities targeting individuals in China.
Last year, it was reported that the total assets seized from Su and his wife exceeded S$170 million, including cash, bank accounts, properties, and vehicles. His overseas assets include multiple properties in Cambodia, Cyprus, and Macau, as well as a partial ownership of a luxury yacht.
Su remains in remand without bail and is expected to appear via video link for his court proceedings. If convicted, he faces a potential jail sentence of up to a year for evading arrest and up to ten years for the money laundering charge, along with significant fines.
