New 9-Day Journey Combines Land, Sea, and Air Experiences on the Innovative Ultramarine
SEATTLE, July 23, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Quark Expeditions, a global leader in polar adventures, proudly announced the launch of its new Greenland Adventure: Explore by Sea, Land and Air itinerary on July 16, 2022. This 9-day expedition aboard the technologically advanced Ultramarine reaffirms Quark Expeditions’ leadership in helicopter-supported polar exploration.
Guests began their journey with a private charter flight from Reykjavik, Iceland, to the quaint village of Narsarsuaq, located within the breathtaking Tunulliarfik fjord in South Greenland. From there, the Ultramarine set sail on an epic expedition through the region’s stunning mountains, alpine lakes, ice masses, and fjords.
Currently, guests are navigating the majestic fjords along Greenland’s southern and southeastern coasts aboard Ultramarine. This revolutionary vessel is equipped with two twin-engine helicopters and 20 quick-deploy Zodiacs, allowing unparalleled access to the most remote locations in the Polar Regions, thanks to partnerships with local Greenlanders.
The Greenland Adventure itinerary offers guests a unique and immersive experience. Activities include sea kayaking, Zodiac cruising, shore landings, and guided walks, alongside a variety of heli-supported options such as heli-landings on the Greenland Ice Sheet, heli-hiking, and overnight camping along the scenic Tasermiut Fjord.
This expedition is one of several recent milestones for Quark Expeditions, which has introduced the purpose-built Ultramarine and developed new itineraries. The company has also launched a first-ever Inuit culinary experience available in Greenland and the Canadian High Arctic, alongside a portfolio of heli-supported adventures.
“Our Greenland Adventure: Explore by Sea, Land and Air is the first itinerary ever designed in full collaboration with local community members and businesses, from concept to execution,” stated Alex McNeil, Director of Expedition Experience and Innovation for Quark Expeditions. “The culture and expertise of the people of South Greenland have been integrated into these voyages. Ultramarine’s twin-engine helicopters provide access to unique adventure options in remote areas—something no other operator can match. Aligned with our Polar Promise strategy, all activities are developed sustainably in partnership with local stakeholders and are suitable for travelers of all ages and fitness levels.”
