A Heartwarming Encounter for Honeymooning Tourists
When you’re far from home, a familiar tune can brighten your day. A couple on their honeymoon in Eurasia experienced just that when a musician performed “Majulah Singapura” for them while they visited the Narikala Fortress in Tbilisi, Georgia.
The tourists captured this memorable moment on August 15 and later shared the video on their TikTok account, Wantwotwee, on October 30. In the clip, the musician is seen playing Singapore’s national anthem on an accordion with great confidence.
Upon recognizing the song, the couple couldn’t hide their joy; Wantwotwee smiled and pointed at the busker in disbelief. The musician concluded his performance by singing the anthem’s chorus, earning a round of applause from the delighted couple. “This is great!” a woman exclaimed, and she reached out to shake the musician’s hand in gratitude.
Wantwotwee told 8world that the busker surprised them with the impromptu rendition of “Majulah Singapura” after learning that the couple hailed from Singapore. The tourists showed their appreciation by offering the musician some Singapore currency, as mentioned in a comment on their video.
Reflecting on the experience, Wantwotwee expressed regret for not asking the busker how he learned to play Singapore’s national anthem. Netizens echoed their admiration for the musician, with one commenting, “Kudos to this sweet uncle!” Many were equally astonished that he could play the national anthem of a country thousands of kilometers away, with remarks about how they “couldn’t believe it.”
