A woman shares her shocking encounter on TikTok, defending herself against victim-blaming after receiving inappropriate messages in exchange for a free ride.
While attempting to find a ride through the messaging app Telegram, TikTok user Nicolett.ee shared a disturbing encounter that quickly gained attention. In a video posted on May 14, she explained how a user, identified only as ‘J,’ offered her a free ride on the condition of a hook-up. Screenshots in the TikTok showed ‘J’ crossing the line with an explicit message: “Is it a compliment if I get hard off your pics [sic]?”
Nicolett.ee, who has over 7,000 followers on TikTok, received over 100,000 views on her post, where viewers expressed their shock and disgust at the unsolicited message. Many also shared their concerns about safety in online ride-sharing groups like Telegram’s SG Hitch, a cheaper alternative to traditional ride-hailing apps, where people can post ride requests and offers.
In the video, Nicolett.ee admitted that laughter was her coping mechanism in an uncomfortable situation, but defended herself when critics suggested she should have used a ride-hailing app instead. She stated, “Regardless, even if someone uses Telehitch, it’s not like they’re asking to get these kinds of messages.”
The harassment didn’t stop there. Despite ignoring ‘J’s initial messages, Nicolett.ee revealed that another account, ‘L,’ began messaging her shortly after, leading her to believe they might be the same person. After blocking ‘L,’ she shared a follow-up TikTok warning others to stay safe in similar situations.
