Popular Western food stall reassures fans as owners plan for the future.
Last October, when popular Western food hawker stall Wow Wow West announced plans to sell the business, fans of their delectable offerings were left distraught. After a temporary closure lasting a few months, concerns grew about whether the stall would return for good. However, they shared in a Facebook post in mid-December that they would be reopening on January 16.
“Yes, we will be back to serve you at our stall on Jan 16,” they wrote. In a delightful twist, they began delivering food to hungry customers starting December 18 during the Christmas period.
In a separate post on December 29, they confirmed they would not be closing permanently, stating, “We are going to continue to bring our yummy Western food to all of you next year!”
Owners Planning to Retire
In an interview with AsiaOne last October, Elizabeth Huang, the daughter of the Wow Wow West owners, revealed that the family was selling the business to allow her parents to retire. Elizabeth and her siblings were unable to take over the family business due to their corporate careers. At that time, they were in discussions with potential buyers, but it remains unclear if a buyer has been found or if the business is still being operated by the founders, Eric Ng and Kathy Yu.
Located at ABC Brickworks Market & Food Centre in Redhill, Wow Wow West has become a beloved hawker stall known for its value-for-money Western grub, including generously portioned chicken cutlets and sausages. Additionally, they have made a name for themselves by hiring ex-offenders as staff, offering them a second chance at life.
In a personal story, Elizabeth revealed that when she was younger, she ran away from home, prompting her father, Eric, to turn to Christianity. He promised to dedicate his life to serving God as a counselor at a halfway house if his daughter returned home, which she ultimately did.
